The Store Next Door
Despite all of the doom and gloom of 2020, there have been some amazing things to come of it. Businesses have changed up their strategy and sales funnels to realign with the needs of consumers. Others have also taken the plunge and opened new businesses.
Case in point with Ame Van Dyke. She and her husband Doug, own E.R. Sawyer Jewelers in Santa Rosa. A vacant shop opened up next door to their store and they didn’t let the pandemic or time pass on before they jumped at the chance to turn it into a new business.
Small Producers with A Big Story
A life long “great gift giver”, Ame is known for putting together the most thoughtful gifts for people. Whether its hostess gifts, birthday celebrations, anniversaries, tokens of appreciation, etc. she knows the perfect way to express the joy in gift giving.
So when the concept of The Store Next Door came about, Ame knew it needed to offer a variety of items that people would love to gift.
She asked what kinds of smaller brands her friends and family enjoyed receiving and she set on her mission to source locally made products from makers like Lakebound Candle Co. , Olive and Poppy, Wine Country Botanicals and more. She also has other made small batch, made in the USA brands such as With Love Darling, a jewelry line dedicated to sustainable production. Honey Brush Design is a cotton flour sack tea towel maker using eco-friendly inks.
After the store remodeling and product lines were selected, Ame knew she wanted to continue with a streamlined credit card processing and point of sale system like the one they were using at E.R. Sawyer. For payment processing and inventory management they brought on a Clover Mini. Clover’s easy and powerful technology was set up seamlessly to get them ready for business when they opened on Black Friday.
